PC-Based Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) Tester Launched

Computer Based System Integrates LIN with OPC

1/15/2014 - Sandusky, Ohio

A plug in test system for the 2015 Lincoln Navigator Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) was successfully integrated with assembly line controls utilizing Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control (OPC) and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) communication protocols. This system is the first of its kind and opens the door for working with other LIN based applications. The Rockbox LIN Controller interfaces with a LIN based actuator in order to control and test the horizontal position of a headlamp. Once a position is reached Rockware writes to a Process Logic Controller (PLC) to utilize a vision system to confirm the location of the lamp is correct and that the actuator is functioning properly. Positions for the actuator are fully configurable for easy modification to the test process. Team Ray Technologies provided PLC integration and engineering support.
